4. Breathe you're in the wilderness The intention is to be relaxing. If you do not get everything you want you're going to have to toughen up, move on to enjoying time with your family and friends.

I rate Deer Trail campground 5 stars, only because 6 isn't an option!

Oh I almost forgot unless you go on reserve America website pay ahead of time, what campground have you not had to go to an office and check in?

The sites are not set up in the typical KOA " sardine can" fashion. ( not to bash the consistency of KOA )

IF you are a motorcycle enthusiast, you won't find a more friendly, centrally located base camp for the Back of the Dragon, the Snake, just to name a few.

Ignore the bad reviews, this place is a class act. This was my second visit in 3 years. The grounds are immaculate, the bathrooms are squeeky clean with very hot water, and the game room is very huge and unique. This campground has some serious character cabins, walking trails, a fishing pond, a store for forgotten items, a very nice swimming pool and a small stream with bridges running through the property.

I found Deer Trail to be among the top private campgrounds I have stayed at, reasons follow....

Thank you for a wonder stay, don't change a thing.

1. This is not a party campground, it's a place to go in the woods for some peace and quiet

This is a beautiful facility in a wonderful setting.

I stayed here several years ago and must say I agree with Jason

8. Clean up after yourself and you'll be welcomed back.

2. Be patient, respectful, asked good questions and The owners will do what you are asking within reason.

It is quiet, clean and VERY well managed- a premium base for fall colors, hiking, etc.

As someone who travels constantly due to my job, I see negative reviews for places that, imho, don't deserve it. This is definitely one of those.

I'm going to be observant and take a stab at some unwritten rules.

3. If you are kind and treat people with respect you will receive the same in return, that's a life lesson not a campground lesson.

This campground is very nice quiet place. The lady owner is polite and nice as the complete opposite as to the male portion... my family and myself were confronted late at night that we should come to the office and discuss some issues (like we were infant children). After going we realize we had a few visitors that were not staying with us and not campers that needed to pay for visiting.. huh!!?? Then were assumed by the bicycle warden (owner) that whom ever was in the game room was with us ...which were no part of our party at all.. If you work second shift be prepared for the wake up call of their pet rooster that will continue for hours.. i love the country but if wanted to wake my family after a second shift job i would awake by a alarm clock not the loud sound of the owners rooster. Poor management decisions.

I am from Ohio I have a literally stayed here five nights in three years. I am not vested in the campground I am not a personal friend of the owners although I don't think it would be very hard to build a friendship with them. In short this is not a biased review.

My experience was different why? Because my attitude is different from the previous reviewer's. The owners of this property are nothing but respectful and completely went out of their way to set me up a campsite by their pavilion with picnic tables a firing ring and a load of wood to burn.

I've been camping in the Southern mountains for the better part of 40 years - from backpacking the Linville Gorge , primitive camping on a hammock via motorcycle, to KOA and various campgrounds in a RV

I found some of the negative reviews to be disturbing, as this was the exact opposite of my experience, which is why I am writing this review

6. If you're that picky maybe you shouldn't be camping in the first place. (I'm hoping maybe this will be a sign displayed somewhere in the future.)

Enjoyed the stay, nice park with a lot of childrens activities and a very nice game room. But I would definitely bring my own water.

7. This campground is for like-minded people you may not fit in if you're a big deal!

5. Don't complain all it does is irritate everyone else around you.

What a disappointment! This place is really just a very small park for kids to play in. The actual campground is nothing more than gravel spread around the trees. The water left silt in the bottom of the bowl after it settled and was very brown. The owners were mixed - Kathi was very friendly when I checked in but her husband was less than helpful when I walked over to the office Saturday to ask about something and acted like it was an inconvenience that I needed info. My GoodSam discount was not applied to the cost even though I asked Kathi about it three times. Because a leak developed in my plumbing system, I left a day early and Kathi said she would refund me the cost of that night. I followed up twice but no refund. While I understand that she changed her mind, she did not return my calls. While that area of the country is absolutely gorgeous I will not go to this "campground" again or recommend it to anybody.
